Former Polish prime minister charged with exceeding his powers over 2020 election call

Former Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki was charged with exceeding his authority for attempting to hold the 2020 presidential election solely by postal vote during the Covid-19 pandemic, costing taxpayers 70 million Zlotys. He waived his immunity, calling the case political persecution. The election was later held at polling stations, and a court ruled his decision violated legal provisions.
