European airport passenger traffic tops pre-Covid level

European airports surpassed pre-pandemic passenger levels in 2024, with traffic reaching 2.5 billion, a 7.4 per cent increase from 2023, according to ACI Europe. Growth was driven by an 8.8 per cent rise in international travel, while domestic travel remained below 2019 levels. Despite economic and geopolitical challenges, many airports set new records, though nearly half still lagged behind pre-Covid numbers. ACI forecasts a 4 per cent traffic rise in 2025 but remains cautious amid global uncertainties.
